The news went official earlier this week: the X Games are back in Europe next February (24th-28th). They won’t take place in Tignes (France), but in Oslo, the capital of Norway, as it was announced in May (read here).
In November 2013, ESPN announced that the international X Games events in Tignes (France), Foz do Iguacu (Brazil), Munich (Germany), and Barcelona (Spain) will not continue in 2014 because “the overall economics of these events do not provide a sustainable future path.” Apparently, ESPN wanted to scale back the X Games franchise and to concentrate on events in the USA.
The X Games Oslo disciplines will include Snowboard and Ski Big Air (men and women), Snowboard and Ski Superpipe (men and women), and Skateboard Street (men and women).
Leticia Bufoni (skateboarder / Brazil), Bobby Brown (skiier / USA), Kelly Clark (snowboarder / USA), Kevin Rolland (skiier / France) are among the athletes that are announced.
